The content between the 7 Years’ War and the American Revolution is one of my favorites in US History. I love the transition for many from loyal colonists to wanting independence. There are a few activities and assignments I’ll be doing this week that I really enjoy.
Students came in today having outlined chapter 4. This chapter begins with the 7 Years’ War and ends with the Olive Branch Petition. After taking care of a few housekeeping items, I had the students watch the video on the French and Indian War and complete the The French and Indian War Quick Assessment.
While they were completing that, I passed back their essays on Comparing and Contrasting English and Spanish colonization. There were a lot of similar mistakes made by the students: thesis statements that were a restatement of the prompt, lack of adequate analysis, and not enough background info for Contextualization. I spent about 10-15 minutes reviewing examples that would receive points for each.
H.W. for tomorrow: PEEP Why 1763 Is So Important Video Guide. (I will check the 7 Years’ War Video Guide too).
Upcoming Assignments: Chapter 4 Vocab Quiz, Short Answer Quiz, Causes of the Revolutionary War Timeline.
Have a good night!
