I don’t know why I always wait to the last minute to do my printing, but the first day of each week is always a rush to photocopy video guides, vocab, assignments, etc. I try to get into school early so I don’t hog the copy machine, but I ended up using it for a good 20 minutes this morning. I always give all the video guides for each chapter at once so students can go ahead. There are quite a few for chapter 6.
Instead of having the students watch The Constitution video, I presented the material in a lecture/discussion format. I wanted to make sure they understood the compromises and I made several connections to the Articles of Confederation. Comparing the Articles and Constitution seems like a great essay topic….. maybe this year???
When I was finished with the Constitution, we had about 15 minutes left in class. I handed out an assignment that compares the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution. I let students work with a partner if they wished and I went around the room answering any questions that came up. The students were able to complete the differences easily, but struggled to come up with many similarities between the two. I used the last few minutes of class to review some similarities.
HW for tomorrow: None, PSAT administration day (Most of the students are taking it). HW for Thursday: Alexander Hamilton V.G.
Have a good day!
