At a recent staff development, I was introduced to a new twist on the traditional timeline assignment. Instead of just listing and describing events, students are assigned a specific role and are to place them above the line if it is a positive event, or below if it is a negative event. This is something I plan on incorporating at least once per period, beginning with period 3. Here’s a brief description of what it would look like for period 3, events leading to the American Revolution from a Boston merchant’s perspective.
